The majority of commentators seem to agree that the current revelations over Mayor Len Brown are not worthy of media coverage. Private affairs should remain private and bear no relevance to the persons ability to perform the role for which they have been entrusted by the electorate. Being found "with your pants down" may be naive but hardly extraordinary in this day and age. If however a member of public became aware of a high profile politician having sexual relations with a child, and that this person was female with a penchant for teenage boys, should society still be as ambivalent about the consequences of that politicians behaviour? It is a question I have been unable to answer. What do you think? |
